At the beginning of the month, the president of the United States decided to put an end to DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). The policy offered young immigrants benefits that normal American children have, such as a social to be able to work, the ability to go to college and receive financial aid, and many more. Unfortunately and to the dismay of many immigrant families, Trump decided to terminate this policy.
I hate to state political opinions, because they can be very controversial and sensitive. However, if you asked me about this policy, i disagree with the idea to have it removed. I believe that children shouldn’t be held accountable for their parents’ mistakes; for coming to this nation against their will. Parents should have become familiar and well informed with the laws of this country so that when they bring their child, they abide by the necessary laws to ensure that their child can become at least a resident by the time that they are 18 years old. However, they shouldn’t be forced to pay for the mistakes of their parents the same way that they do. They should be granted the same opportunities, given that they come to school, speak our language, and partake in the benefits that this nation offers.
Still… why must this happen? I could be wrong, but I believe these things must happen so that our trust isn’t toward an organization. We cannot base our faith on a president or government because the only person to supply our needs is God. When we focus our attention on a man, we fall into idolatry, and we begin to naturalize our faith. It is best for America to humble themselves and surrender everything to God. These are opportunities to run to God with all that we have, and believe that the answer is in his hands.
Someone may say that it is easy to say when you are not the one suffering, and they are completely true. It is easy for one to boldly say this when they haven’t been the one suffering because of the turning down of this policy. However, the only thing that there isn’t a solution for is death. And even if there is death, one is granted the highest prize of all, which is eternity with our heavenly Father.
If you are reading and you have been affected by this policy, God holds the solution in his hands for you. Although God allowed this to happen, God has planned the best years for you, and you haven’t seen anything yet. The Word teaches us in Romans that God works for the good of those that love him. I declare the word of God over you! His love, peace, and promises!
