During this month, the whole world acknowledges and celebrates Valentine’s Day. While I don’t see anything wrong with it, I’ve noticed that the spirit of this age has polluted the idea of love. Merchandise are all over the stores to promote this event. Love has become a bestseller and a “money-making” time of year, but it is far from being a real thing during Valentine’s Day. This leads me to share something that I have been feeling to share for this month.
There is no way to know true love or unconditional love without experiencing God’s love first.
We love because God loved us first, and He loved us without limits, conditions, or requirements. He loved because He wanted to. There was no hidden benefit behind Him loving us. He was God. We couldn’t offer God anything bigger or better. So if we’ve never had an encounter with His love, it is sad but safe to say that we haven’t really truly loved anyone or anything at all.
“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”
1 Peter 4:8
True love covers our flaws and wrongs. If we love someone, we will love them enough to be able to cover their mistakes from the rest of the world. Any person that tries to expose or accuse someone is being influenced by the enemy, because only the devil came to accuse, seek, and destroy. When someone that is close to us committed a big error, our love is enough to erase, let go and move forward. The world sees forgiveness as weak and letting others take advantage of us. But if this is true, they could say the same about Jesus. It takes a person filled with so much love to be able to forgive people that hurt them, or anyone that has caused huge havoc in their lives.
Love has no emotions. In today’s society, people jump from relationship to relationship that moment that they argue with their significant other, or when they feel like they’re not getting what they need. A lot of people love with their eyes but not the way that God wants us to love people. The first flaw they see, they are ready to keep that inside and use that for their next arguments. Or the moment that a guy tries to seduce a girl and make them feel better than the previous guy, they decide to break-up and go with the new man. If it is easy for us to jump like this, it’s not truly love; it is lust, and lust just jumps around as a temporary feeling.
Love is faithful and loyal. A person that is filled with the love of God will always be faithful to their partner. Love always believes. Love never judges, it always thinks the best and believes the best for others. If someone hurt them, they still believe in that person. After they had the worst argument, they are quick to go to the presence of God, and ask for forgiveness. They never end the day on a bad note. They always choose to love no matter what.
Love cannot be contained within. It is the weapon that defeated the enemy. It has the power to turn an atheist into a believer. It has the power to deliver a satanist. It has the power to heal cancer. Love can do anything because God is love. Love is so big, so wide, and so enormous that it can’t be locked up within. God loved us too much that he had to come in the form of a man to die for us. He loved us so much that His love couldn’t be contained within Himself. He had to do a corresponding action at the cross.
Therefore, I challenge you today to walk in that powerful and supernatural love. I’m not saying I’m perfect. However, I do my best to experience His love on a daily basis. I can’t say I always do; I miss the mark sometimes like all of us do. But His love and presence are my refuge, and I know that I can’t love unless He loves me everyday. I can’t release any love unless I have love that He has given me. If I ever love someone, or show love to those around me, it is because I am filled with the love of God. That love that doesn’t judge. That love that only believes. That love that has no emotions; it only chooses to love no matter what it uncovers.
If you were touched by this article, I want you to say this prayer with me:
“Heavenly Father, I thank you for your unconditional love. Thank you for loving me when the world has judged me. Thank you because you believed in me, even though no one else has believed in me. Thank you for being my refuge. Thank you for loving me unconditional. I ask you for forgiveness, for my mistakes, for not walking in love, and for being disobedience to your word. Forgive me if I haven’t loved my family, my friends, or any of the people that you placed around me. Please forgive me if I’ve hurt them, or caused them any pain. I ask you to fill me with your supernatural grace, so that I can love like you loved me. Let me love without limits. Let me love without boundaries. Let me love so much that it just can’t be contained and locked up inside of me. I declare that my love explodes and bursts out so that the entire world can see. Thank you for the cross. Thank you for your unconditional love. I receive it. I believe it. In Jesus name, amen!“
